One of my favorite things I did on Moral Orel, directing “Nature” parts 1 and 2. “Sacrifice” and “Passing” are my other two favorite episodes. I worked with a lot of great animators on these eps and I thought Dino’s writing was fantastic on all three.

Do you take any credit for the dramatic elements of Moral Orel? That was my favorite part of the show.

That’s a great question. Dino involved EVERYONE creatively in his show…but the tone and humor and the POV was all Dino. I’d like to take credit for taking the show seriously, for shooting it in a way that was serious and simple, with allusions to other movies, other filmmakers and film history, for making the animation less and less jokey, and trying to find ways for the animation to be uncomplicated and direct. I was deeply involved in all aspects of the story as a director, a producer an editor (even co-writing an episode with Dino called ALONE) but at the end of the day I was there to support Dino and to make the show that was in his head. And it was an amazing experience.
